With the tie already secured the result of the Foursomes match involving David Edgar and Scott Cassidy was academic but in the event the North Beach won by 4&3. • May Medal and Championship Qualifier 2 results.

  • The May Medal and Championship Qualifier 2 took place on May 7/9/10/11 playing over Seafield golf course from the white tees and 22 members took on the fast running fairways and bumpy greens as they looked to advance their qualification in the Club Championships. The best gross score was 77 (8 over par) fired by Scott Kirk with his round containing birdies at holes 5/14. Only 4 players shot nett par or better with John Brodie and Gerry Cavanagh tied on nett 69 (level par). John's round contained a birdie at hole 16 but unfortunately double bogeys at holes 1/4 plus a triple at hole 15 meant his round was a story of what if. Gerry in contrast made a poor start to his round with a double bogey at hole 1 and a triple bogey at hole 8 in an outward half with only 2 pars. However, a magnificent inward half of gross 35 (1 under par) including birdies at holes 15/16, proppelled him past John on countback for the podium place. Runner-up this week was Alan Muir with a nett 68 (1 under par) and his round contained a birdie at hole 15 but the double bogey at hole 11 would come back to haunt him in the overall result. John Taylor also fired a nett 68 (1 under par) with a birdie at hole 15 which helped him pip Alan on countback for the win. We had multiple Two's recorded once again this week with Gerry Cavanagh, Alan Smeeton and Alan Muir all recording birdie 2 at hole 15, to ensnare a share of the prize pot. In the Scratch Championship, the qualifiers after 2 rounds are led by 6-time Champions, Robert Gilchrist and Alan Smeeton with Alan Muir, Scott Kirk, John Brodie, Gerry Cavanagh, Gordon Christie and Mark Mancini filling the top 8 places at present. In the Nett Championship, Alan Muir leads the way with John Taylor, Gordon Christie, James Burnett, Mark Mancini in the chasing pack followed by John Brodie, Jim Bryden, Stuart Cairns and Scott Kirk who are tied on the same score. With the final Qualifying event taking place after this weeks Outing, there is still everything to play for and members are reminded you can only qualify for one Championship with the Scratch event taking precedence. Good luck to everyone.

  • Scottish Medal Qualifying results.

  • The Chase GC had three entrants in the Scottish Golf Qualifying event played over Loudon Gowf Club on Friday May 2nd. The top 6 finishers in the event would qualify for the Grand Final which this year is being held at the Carrick course, Loch Lomond. Alan Smeeton, David Edgar and Mark Mancini had gained entry through their performance in our Medal events held between April-September in season 2023/24. Alan fired a nett 8 over par, including a birdie at hole 5, to finish in 13th spot. David shot 5 over par, with his solitary birdie coming at hole 4 as he finished agonisingly outside the top 6 in the dreaded 7th position. Pride of place goes to Mark Mancini as he finshed tied 2nd with a nett 3 over par including a birdie at hole 12 and qualify for the Final which takes place in mid-August.

  • Davy Weir Cup results.

  • The Davy Weir Cup took place on April 30/May2/3/4 playing over Belleisle golf course from the white or yellow tees, with handicaps adjusted accordingly, and 17 members took on a course that was playing it's length and in need of water on the bone dry greens. The best gross score was 80 (9 over par) fired by 6-time Club Champion, Alan Smeeton including birdies at 14/15. We had 3 players tied on nett 71 (level par) and unfortunately someone had to miss out on a podium place. The unlucky player was Scott Kirk who was pipped on countback despite birdies at holes 7/18 by Gerry Cavanagh over the last 6 holes. Runner-up, again via countback on the inward half, was Stuart Cairns with a nett 71. For the second week running our winner was Warren Barclay with a nett 69 (2 under par) which gave him a 2 stroke margin of victory. For the second time this summer season, we saw multiple Two's recorded in a single event with Scott Kirk (hole 7), Michael Duffy and Ian Speirs (hole 10) and Alan Smeeton (hole 14), all ensuring they took a share of the spoils this week.

  • Electronic score returns

  • Please refer to the email instruction sent out on 10/08/20. If members require further assistance in this matter they should contact John Brodie (Secretary).

  • Amendment to procedure

  • Following 2 incidents where a member was left without a game, the following procedure must now be followed by all players who pull out of a game after the draw has been made. It is now a requirement that the player pulling out contacts EVERYONE PLAYING IN THE GROUP to inform them. This should happen as a common courtesy but clearly has not been.
