  • Winter Stableford results.

  • The Winter Stableford took place on Feb 5/7/8/9 playing over Darley golf course from the yellow tees with only 9 brave souls prepared to take on the weather and the formidable challenge of the 5th hardest course in the country to play to your handicap. In the end, only the man at the top of the podium came close to shooting a par score of 36 points. In third spot with 33 points was John Brodie whose round started brightly but quietly faded on the inward half. Runner-up with 34 points was James Burnett who much like John made a fine start to the front nine with 20pts, but he too faded badly despite a birdie at hole 8. Our winner with 36 points was David Edgar who started with a birdie at the first and steady progress was only halted by a double bogey at hole 15 or his margin of victory might have been greater.

  • Seafield Sweep results.

  • A Strokeplay Sweep was held on January 29/31/Feb 1/2 playing over Seafield golf course from the yellow tees with a small field of 11 taking on the heavy underfoot conditions at our home venue. In third spot with a nett 70 (1 over par) was Ian Young with his round containing birdies at holes 5/18. Runner-up with the best gross score of 75 (6 over par) was David Edgar who birdied holes 5/11/13 on his way to the same nett 70 (1 over) but David pipped Ian via countback on the inward half. Our winner shooting a level par nett 69, was Eric Borland with his round containing birdies at holes 7/8 and indeed the margin of victory might have been greater but for the triple bogey 6 at hole 15. In the event a one shot victory was sufficient to claim the spoils.

  • Par Competition results.

  • The Par competition took place on January 22/24/25/26 playing over Lochgreen golf course from the yellow tees with 8 brave souls combatting the course conditions which included temporary greens, high winds and heavy underfoot conditions. All competitors were playing against the course and only the top two were ultimately successful. Three players were tied on 1 down against the course with James Burnett finding the podium place having beaten Eric Borland and David Edgar on countback. Runner-up was Gerry Cavanagh whose round yielded birdies at holes 3/4/8 as he finished 1up on the course. Our clear winner this week was John Brodie whose nett 71 (3 under par) contained birdies at holes 4/14 and equated to 4up against the course.

  • Winter league 4 results.

  • The 4th leg of our Winter league competition took place on January 15/17/18/19 playing over Fullarton golf course from the yellow tees with only 7 players braving the conditions. The scoring at the head of the field was good with the top 2 scoring under par, i.e more than 36 stableford points. In 3rd spot was David Edgar whose round contained birdies at holes 5/16 with his inward half of 16pts enough to keep Eric Borland off the podium on countback. Runner-up, shooting the best gross score of 71 (4 over par), was John Brodie whose 37pts included birdies at holes 7/8. Our clear winner, with 41pts was Stephen Kelly with his nett 62 (5 under par) containing birdies at holes 5/14. The overall position in this best 3 scores from 5 rounds sees defending Champion James Burnett narrowly in the lead by a single point with 1 round to be completed.

  • Electronic score returns

  • Please refer to the email instruction sent out on 10/08/20. If members require further assistance in this matter they should contact Dougie Beattie (Handicap Secretary).

  • Amendment to procedure

  • Following 2 incidents where a member was left without a game, the following procedure must now be followed by all players who pull out of a game after the draw has been made. It is now a requirement that the player pulling out contacts EVERYONE PLAYING IN THE GROUP to inform them. This should happen as a common courtesy but clearly has not been.
